Mabon A Harvest Sabbat
Mabon, A Harvest Sabbat is the time of year most commonly known as Fall Equinox. Mabon is actually named after a Welsh God, whom we are overjoyed to celebrate, even nature around is preparing with the colours created and fit for a King! Bright, colourful landscapes and full lush gardens abound, we are inspired and grateful for the second harvest, in the great wheel of the year! The length of day and night has changed. In fact they are in equal balance! 12 hours each from sunrise to sunset! We feel the shifting of the season with cooler days and colder evenings, the leaves turning from green to shades of yellow, orange and red! Its beautiful outside indeed, and it is a welcoming site! Such a magical time for those who witness this precious time of the year!
It is celebrated by many names, and we are all in divine gratefulness of the bounty around, With deep respect, we give attention to the natural life cycles of our “Mother Earth “. Cycles of birth, fruition, preservation and death are considered with reverence. Death and our Ancestor are dreamed and thought of as we enter Samhain (Halloween) and thru the first few days of November (The final harvest), Celebrations vary around the world, according to the Earths rhythm and cultural tides!
Here in the eastern hemisphere we gather at these fire/harvest festivals (the last 3 of the year) and share our harvest with our communities, speak of our gifts from spirit and share stories of our Ancestors! Its is a “Witches Thanksgiving” Be mindful and full of heart with your prayers, pay homage with dance, song and food to those you hold high, enjoy the bonfires and be thankful! Generosity and Reverence is the Theme!
