Wolf Medicine
Seer Tamare White-Wolf
Wolf Medicine, The Healer, Pathfinder, Teacher & Leader!
Those that carry the wolf are fiercely independent, blazing their own trails, question rules, have extreme loyalty, are very sensitive to the surroundings n planets, in particular the moon! Alignment with the moon makes them really good at revealing what is hidden beneath the surface! The senses of Wolf are very keen, and the moon is its power ally. The moon a symbol for psychic energy and the unconscious knowing which hold the secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Howling at the moon is an indication of Wolf’s desire to connect with new ideas, new ways and new paths which are just below the surface of our consciousness. Wolf medicine empowers the teacher within us to come forth and aid Mother Earths 2 legged in understanding the Great Mystery of life. Wolf carries the heart of danger and unpredictability. His nature is both friendly and vicious and his unwieldy spirit is a mirror to our own nature.
The spirit of wolf medicine defies domestication preferring freedom to think, to come and go, following their own rules and standards to the point of leaving the comfort of the clan if they are not happy with the social order! This confidence to be able to break away from the norm and go off into uncharted territories without fear and all alone is the depth of wolf medicine. Holding a healthy space around themselves despite what may be going on around them, the reason they make such good healers is because they also hold sacred space for others while they are in turmoil! Wolf energy accepts others and their learning pace with openness and understanding! Through observation they will find your niche in order to help you learn in your own pace and style! This makes them great teachers and parents!
There is a another tale told by the Italian nation suggesting just that! Wolf Mothers: For Roman Pagans, the wolf is important indeed. The founding of Rome – an entire empire – was based on the story of Romulus and Remus, orphaned twins who were raised by a she-wolf. The name of the Lupercalia festival comes from the Latin Lupus, which means wolf. Lupercalia is held every February and is a multi-purpose event that celebrates fertility of the livestock and the people of the nation.
Many have heard the legend of the 2 Wolves, An old Indian tale describes the teachings of Wolf best:
An old Navajo and his grandson went walking in the woods. The Navajo spoke to his grandson, teaching him of the plants to eat and the plants to avoid, teaching him how to read the story written in the dusty earth by the paw tracks of animals. When the old man saw that two wolves had traveled across their path he knelt at the tracks and turned to his grandson to teach him of his spirit, he said to the boy: Grandson, there are two wolves in your heart fighting for your attention.
“It’s a terrible fight between two wolves. One is evil – snarling with rage, he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other is good, howling in harmony with the moon and all living things- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. As you grow up the fight will grow stronger between these two wolves. As we all in the human race will face this same fight!”
“Which wolf will win?” The boy asked his Grandfather. The answer is simple…The one you feed~!
Wolves are naturally aligned in packs and have a sensitive and sophisticated hierarchy within the social structure, with a Alpha, Beta and Omega in every group. There is a monogamous mated pair (Alpha), their offspring (Beta) which fight hard to assert heir position within the pack, in the end the weakest is found (Omega). It is here we often find the “Lone Wolf” created! As this is most often the wolf that leaves the pack in order to create their own pack and ultimately becomes the Alpha!
“A wolf pack: the first 3 are the old or sick, they give the pace to the entire pack. If it was the other way round, they would be left behind, losing contact with the pack. In case of an ambush they would be sacrificed. Then come 5 strong ones, the front line. In the center are the rest of the pack members, then the 5 strongest following. Last is alone, the alpha. He controls everything from the rear. In that position he can see everything, decide the direction. He sees all of the pack. The pack moves according to the elders pace and help each other, watch each other.
