Samhuinn Ritual ~ Faye & Kevin

Our Samhuinn Ritual to honour our ancestors. First I would like to thank Tamare White-Wolf and Skylar Pink for inviting Kevin and I (Faye) to lead the ritual for Muse Fest. We are members of the Order of Bards Ovates and Druid.

In our tradition, October 31, November 1st and 2nd are known as 3 days of no time, when the veil between the worlds is at its’ thinnest…a time to reach across and spend time with your ancestors.  Come and join us, bring a chair or mat to sit on as we will have a meditation.

To the ancient Celts, the year had two “hinges”. These were Beltainne (the first of May) and Samhuinn, (the first of November), which is also the traditional Celtic New Year. And these two days were the most magical, and often frightening times of the whole year.

The Celtic people were in superstitious awe of times and places “in between”. Holy sites were any border places – the shore between land and water (seas, lakes, and rivers), bridges, boundaries between territories (especially when marked by bodies of water), crossroads, thresholds, etc. Holy times were also border times – twilight and dawn marking the transitions of night and day; Beltainne and Samhuinn marking the transitions of summer and winter.
