Ancestors Feast & Blessing
This time of year is when the veils between the worlds are thinnest, a time when there is no time and because of this, it is when we can communicate with our ancestors! During this “no time” there is opportunity to tell them just how you feel about the gifts they left behind for you, gifts they my have helped you become who you are in this world!
Pagan folk all over the world have celebrated Halloween, many celebrate it as “The Day of the Dead” (October 31st)
and more so have parades that start in the main town and end up in the cemeteries where they have a “celebration of life”! Pagan folk in the northern hemisphere are just finding our way back to the old ways which we have learned was called Samhain. This marks the end on the pagan/celtic year, with November 1st being the New Pagan Year!
Lets take the time to share with them to feast with them once again, we will be circling around the sacred fire area with thoughts and prayers to share in their honour! We will have a tobacco & cedar fire ceremony, were you can verbalise their name and the things you gathered from them while they lived. Some of us benefited from a legacy of money, others talents, others strength in body or attitude, while still others may have learned who not to be!
Whatever your story I’m certain you have something to be grateful for and something to bring to the table in honour of their lives! After our ceremony we will share in great old fashion feast for our dead! Dress in your best, bring a pot luck and we will prepare a dish for them and give it to the fire as well we will leave a few seats available for them so if they wish they can join us as we welcome them to our harvest table!
Our celebration is an early one (October 1st) we hope that by doing this early you can learn enough about these blessed ways in order to have time to celebrate on Samhain October 31st and to create a new, old family traditions that can last a lifetime!
